Monochrome Yaquina Bay Bridge
The Yaquina Bay Bridge from the South Jetty. The light painted pillars really work monochrome. Playing with different techniques is fun and keeps my creativity flowing.

Waterfall in Monochrome
This little waterfall on the way to the North Fork of the Yachats River Covered Bridge. I am sure this is a seasonal waterfall.

Times Gone By
It pays to look behind you at shoots. This old car was begging to be captured.

Our Amazing Ocean
Ocean abstract taken while on our way out to look for whales in Depoe Bay, Oregon.

Channeling Ansel
Taken from Lemmon’s Viewpoint at the top Wahkeena Falls Trail right before the start of the Fairy Falls Trail in the Columbia River Gorge. This viewpoint is at the top of the Wahkeena Trail; while not difficult it has a steep elevation gain and 12 switchbacks. This is one of the must-do hikes in the Gorge! Wahkeena is the English transliteration of the Yakama tribe phrase meaning most beautiful.

Fog at the St. John's Bridge
Artistic view of the pilings of the St. John's Bridge from Catherdral Park. The bridge was designed by internationally renowned engineer David B. Steinman and Holton D. Robinson, of New York, the St. John's Bridge was the longest suspension-type bridge west of the Mississippi River at the time of construction. It is the only major highway suspension bridge in the Willamette Valley and one of only three major highway suspension bridges in Oregon.

Monochrome Dutch Vignette
Often, images when processed in black and white the viewer can see the subjects better. Monochrome work fascinates me.

Gloodymir Putin
Street art in one of the alleys of the floral district in Amsterdam.

Ocean Abstract
Silky ocean abstract at Fogarty State Park near Lincoln Beach, Oregon.

Yaquina Bay Bridge
A study of the pilings underneath the Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport, Oregon. Inspired by a shot from a fellow photographer.

Close up of Ozark Diamond Mine Shaft
Up close of Ozark Diamond Mine shaft building which is now part of the Crater of Diamonds State Park. This is a 911-acre Arkansas state park in Pike County, Arkansas, in the United States. The park features a 37.5-acre plowed field and is the world's only diamond-bearing site accessible to the public. Diamonds have continuously been discovered in the field since 1906. The site became a state park in 1972 after the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism purchased the site from the Arkansas Diamond Company and Ozark Diamond Mines Corporation, who previously had operated the site as a tourist attraction.

Monochrome Mauney House

Street Art in Texarkana Arkansas
Simple street art that may be missed by some is often fun to capture. I chose to leave this kitty cat three legged as it is part of the charm of it on this abandoned building in downtown Texarkana, Arkansas.

Church Doors
Upstairs in the church in the "n" ghost town. The inside was in relatively good shape compared to the outside.

The mysteries of a Texas Ghost Town
Through the windows... oh if the walls of this church could talk. So many stories would be told.

Somewhere in Texas
This was about an hour away from the ghost town. Loved taking the side roads and finding little gems such as this one. Someone at one point was proud of this place. I would love to know the story behind this place. It was very interesting and it is as if time stood still.

Swirls swirls swirls
Koi pond swirls. At the entrance of the gardens, there is a koi pond with a couple waterfalls. I saw the water flow and saw SWIRLS! So I played with them. This was a challenging shot, the top left of the frame is in full on shade and the top right was in the full sun. To get the swirls, I used a six stop ND filter, stacked on a three stop filter and then a polarizer.
In the color version, there are koi in the main swirl ... going to try an abstract with that.

Light play at the Palacio Real de Madrid
The corridors at the Royal Palace are wonderful and were fun to work to capture. As the sun was setting the shadows grew and the light kissed the bricks just right. This is a single shot and hand-held.
Home to the Kings of Spain from Charles III to Alfonso XIII, Madrid's Royal Palace takes us on a journey through the history of Spain. Though it is no longer the royal family's home, it continues to be their official residence.

Palmera Symmetry
Palm abstract from a very symmetrical set of plam leaves. It is so interesting to see the different types of palm trees in one location. The Jardin Huerto del Cura is very unique and a must see if you're in the area.

The Power of Sol Duc Falls
Sol Duc Falls in the Sol Duc Valley are part of the expansive Olympic National Park. The 48 foot drop of the falls is quite impressive and hard to imagine that this river serves as a key highway for coho salmon, running through the valley and ascending to the lakes and headwaters in the surrounding mountains. The beauty of this short trail is awe-inspiring and according to the National Park Service, most of the trees are old growth.
This was taken upstream from the falls and I wanted to capture the power of the water. Most capture the actual drop which is down right impressive but when we were there, the sheer power of the water spray was soaking my lens. So a quick scramble over a log got me upstream where I could capture this.

Beauty in Black & White
Vigeland Park is an 80-acre facility that has a full museum and beautiful gardens full of granite and iron sculptures. This is one of the sculptures toward the entrance. This was a top probably a 50-foot pillar.

Channeling Escher on Skagsanden Beach
Abstracts at Skagsanden Beach were everywhere. I know Nathaniel does this same trip in the winter. I would love to play here with snow on the ground.

Dragon in the Sand
The ever changing sand patterns at Skagsanden Beach were phenomenal. The tide changes the patterns as it is going out or coming in.

Monochrome Falls
The flow and the rocks in this frame worked very well as a monochrome picture. The flat light allowed us to capture the beauty of these waterfalls.

Aurora in Monochrome
I decided to go monochrome for this shot so I could bring out the cool patterns. The color image of this is different shades of green. So monochrome worked here.

Old Bones
The Peter Iredale ran ashore in 1906 and depending on the tide, different pieces of her are visible. I was there a few days ago and was lucky to get moody clouds to frame these old bones.

Candy Cane Express
The Candy Cane express runs from the Tillamook Air Museum blimp hangar on the south side of Tillamook through Garibaldi, Rockaway Beach and Wheeler where the tracks turn to the East and head up into the coast range along the remote and breathtaking Nehalem and Salmonberry River canyons.

Celilo Falls Fishing Village
Before the Columbia River had a dam put in place in March 1957, Celilo Falls were a prime salmon fishing spot for the tribes of the Columbia River Native Americans. These cabins were part of the fishing villages where elders and chiefs regulated the fishing that would only begin after the First Salmon Feast and would occur at each village upon the migration of the salmon. The Native American term Wy-am which some say means “echo of water” is the term the tribes use for the falls and the term still lives in the traditions and religions of the Columbia River Native Americans.

Aspen Abstract
Winters in Grand Teton National Park are beautiful. Photographing in the snow means being very creative. This aspen grove was perfect for a winter abstract.

Jackson Hole Baptist Church Icicles
Heavy snow my first day in Jackson forced me and the rest of the group to be creative in our photography. The icicles were fun to edit.

Flagg Ranch Icicle
Icicles captured my attention the entire trip to Yellowstone in the winter. This is at Flagg Ranch. The two snow coach tours into Yellowstone NP began at Flagg Ranch with a warm buffet breakfast. Located between Grand Teton and Yellowstone NP, Flagg Ranch was developed as a private ranch by the Rockefeller family on the land that once was a military post. In the 1970s, the land and buildings were donated back to the National Park Service and it is now managed by a private organization for the NPS

River Runs through Yellowstone
The Lewis River in Yellowstone National Park is named after Merriweathet Lewis. The 18 mile-long tributary of the Snake River. Brown, rainbow and Yellowstone cutthroat trout are found in the river. Yes, I was thigh deep in snow for this shot. I probably got our guide a bit nervous.
